Abstract

In the following article an intervention in the Safety Education of two group of then mentally handicapped pupils each, one belonging to an «occupational workshop» and the other to a school, is presented.

The general and specific objectives of the course are pointed out. These are related to the ways of beharing considered basic to circulate in the streets risking personal safety.

The material and the methodology (based on the principles of learning and modifying behavior) used in the course are described below.

Finally, the evaluation of the course is developed. It has been realized using two records of behavior that were recorder in a closed street (one of them before the course and the other at the end of it).

In the record there is an experimental group and a group control. The evaluation has been assessed by analysing variants, and the resultats point out that in the experimental group significant differences can be seen concerning the number of appropriate ways of behaving in crossing before and after the training.

By analysing the variants we also learn that no behavioar-goal was mastered significantly better than the others, neither before, nor after the intervention.
