Abstract

Labour markets suffer continuous and fast economic, social, technological and demographic changes... Companies and employees, framed within this economic context, are not unrelated to these changes. In fact, it is expected that the number and the diversity of conflicts will increase within the organizations in the next years. As a result, it is essential that organizations find and promote a framework of effective dispute resolution in order to facilitate it and save costs and time otherwise it could have  adverse consequences for the competitiveness and productivity of companies. Especially, mediation facilitates interpersonal communication and offers an opportunity to resolve conflicts effectively by enhancing  participation in the decision-making process and increasing employees satisfaction. In addition, it could be positive to promote certain personal values, such as self-efficacy, by introducing in the managing board all the  parties involved in the employment relationship and the increasing control by the identification of the parties involved. In short, mediation can offer companies a quick dispute resolution method, promoting equity and contributing to the competitiveness of organizations.
