Abstract

The aim of this study was to know the opinion of relatives of mental illness patients diagnosed of schizophrenia about the performance of the Centre for Psychosocial Rehabilitation (CRIS) caring for their relations. In order to achieve this aim, we passed a questionnaire to families of 50 users of a CRIS centre to determine their perception and satisfaction with the following aspects of the service: effectiveness of the treatment being given to the user, quality of the centre’s infrastructure, the relationship with and support given by the professionals and the perceived needs of the relatives. In the conclusion, we reflect on the need of such resources for the treatment of mental illness patients diagnosed of schizophrenia and on the support/help needed for their families.
