Abstract

Life expectancy has doubled in western countries for the last two centuries and the number of people who reach an advanced age in good health is also growing each year. Retirement is a social achievement which could have negative aspects: discrimination in relation with the age of retirement itself and risk in relation with the maintenance of purchasing power in ageing societies. However, it is a must to fix as a target the flexible retirement. This target will allow new generations the opportunity to develop according to their personal competences, needs and individual motivations. In this report, practical suggestions are made in order to live an active retirement.
