Abstract

We have studied the linguistic behavior of young university students and their position toward the language, their practices and the status of the language. The sample was 204 young university students –their age ranged from 19 until 32 years old-, the vast majority of them were women and half of them had as mother language the Valencian. Our results showed that, the practices that young people have of the Valencian language could be improved. Otherwise, the attitudes from young university students towards Valencian language are not negative, but a lot of them have some difficulties to use the Valencian language. Additionally, we suggest some measures to favor the normalization of Valencian language to the whole sphere of the relationships.
