Abstract

After analyzing the impact created by the figure of the Psicólogo General Sanitario, this article focuses on the formation of educational psychologists in non-formal areas such as the family context. To this end, it argues the training needs of future professionals in ecological-systemic approaches, risk prevention and promotion of protection and strengths, all within the European approach to positive parenting. The interdisciplinary postgraduate training that is carried out for this purpose in several universities in the field of Family Intervention and Mediation is illustrated. Finally, it outlines the professional situation in this area describing the collaboration structure created in Spain between family policy makers, university experts and professionals working with families. The article ends with a note of optimism for future graduates given the enormous interest in training and professional work in this area.
