Abstract

This study is focused on the differential analysis between elderly persons by a sample of 142 males and females aged 65 to 95- Subsamples included 70 subjects living in a old people’s home –“residents”- and 72 subjects living alone or with couple –“non residents”-. Studied the differential effects of social, physical and psychological stressors and resources beween residents and non-residents who self-reported perceived health, stressfull life events, social support, self-steem and psychosocial adjustment. Results of the longitudinal research indicates that the social support, self-steem and psychosocial adjustment is better in the non-residentes subjects than residents subjects, and is confirmed the hypothesized relationships beween resources, stressors and psychosocial adjustment from our theoretical approach.
