Abstract

This paper is a revision of different researchs on self-concept in children and teenagers. Starting from a relational consideration of the genesis, as a result of the interactions of the individual on the social contexts in which behavior is developed from childhood. Thus, it is taken as a multidimensional construct with different and independent factors, such as family, society, school, etc. From there, a reflection is made about the relationships of self-consciousness with the primary socialization contexts: family and school, and the way in which different agents derived from these contexts influence the development of self concept.
