Abstract

The aim was to build a predictive model of Burnout in Senior High-School teachers. A cross-sectional method was used, ex post facto, correlational field, with a non-intentional sampling. 395 high school teachers participated. Prevalence of Burnout was of 17.6%. The highest stressor prevalence was Difficult students (DS) followed by Bad relationship with partners (BRP). The structural model considered predictors of Loss enthusiasm toward the job: Lack of resources and Lack of support from the boss (LSB) and DS for Psychological exhaustion (PE): The BRP; the academic overload (AO) and Inequality; for indolence DS, LSB and AO. Guilt is predicted by Indolence. At the path analysis the goodness of fit indexes was: X2 = 49.88, df.=1 X2/df.=3 p<.05; IFI= .976, TLI =.930, CFI =.976, GFI=.976 and AGFI= .916, RMSEA= .073. In conclusion there are specific psychosocial risk factors in teaching that predict Burnout.
