Abstract

Based on an analysis of the current situation regarding psychological distress, the biopsychosocial model of physical and mental health is presented. The objective of this paper is to show the different potential levels of analysis for behavioral health problems and their correlation with the levels of prevention: microanalytical, molecular, and molar. The existing professional profiles are discussed according to the associated levels of prevention. Based on these, the different visions and missions of each profile are analyzed, associating them with the educational qualifications of each. Emphasis is placed on the different preventive perspectives existing in the psychoeducational field as a molar context. Finally, different strategies for improving the psychoeducational preventive approach are discussed. In this case, the profile of Educational Psychology professionals is highlighted, specialized in current problems in our educational system, necessary and complementary to the current professional profile of psychopedagogical guidance.
