Abstract

This paper presents a project carried out in a residence of dependent elderly people in Alicante. The aim of the project is to foster intergenerational exchange of experiences between elderly and young people, so creating rewarding experiences that positively affect the health and well-being of the first group.

In order to cover this target, we present descriptive data, both quantitative and qualitative, as well as the assessment of the project by the participants. The sample consisted in 90 elderly people, suffering different
degrees of physical and/or psychological dependence, between 60 and 99 years old. Residents in advanced stages of disease, which in this last edition are excluded from the evaluation, were about 10% of the total
population.

The INSTITUTO VALENCIANO DE LA JUVENTUD (IVAJ) selected 20 volunteers, Spanish and foreign students, with good level of Spanish, between 18 and 25 years old. The psychologist and the TASOCS of the Centre were responsible for the implementation of this program.

The assessment was performed through the information provided by participants who were able to answer.
